Google Chrome drops H.264 for WebM — ok?

January 13th, 2011 · No Comments

I’m a fan of WebM because its open, but ever since Google open sourced it after buying On2, I haven’t seen any traction in the platforms that support it.  Flash doesn’t support it (and it doesn’t seem like it will in 10.2 either), and so far only Chrome, and beta versions of Firefox 4 and Opera support it.  This is probably a move by Google to try to force the matter, but there just isn’t any support for this new codec out there yet.  Hopefully this bold move by Google will build more awareness for WebM, but there’s also so much static around it as being a strategic move in its war with Apple.  Whatever the truth is, having an open standard for video on the web is going to be very liberating for publishers and content creators.  That’s my 2 cents.

Nice blurb by SocalTECH - Freebinar can help Dimdim users

January 11th, 2011 · No Comments

Very excited about this quick little write-up that Freebinar got in SocalTECH on Friday.  It talks about how Freebinar can help Dimdim users transition after its acquisition by Salesforce.com.  Check it out:

Amazon EC2 – How to load balance?

February 7th, 2009 · No Comments

So Amazon EC2’s infrastructure seems pretty cool, but I don’t really see a way to create a truly scalable infrastructure since all you’re getting from them are instances of individual machines, not anything at the networking level.  If anyone out there has any experience with this, please enlighten me – I need to create some type of scalable architecture using Windows instances.  Thanks!

Need a singer!

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

So my new band is almost complete, with the exception of a kick ass singer.  If you know any really strong singers, send them my way.  Man, I need to just use Twitter for this blog.Â

Auditions are ON!

June 12th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Oh man, I know all my friends are gonna have one comment or another about this, but once again, I’m looking for musicians.  Ryan and I have been writing music, and still have the music bug, so why not — we’re putting together another band.  Its not the Action Item, a d we might still play some of the old songs, but the goal will be to write new music.  So yeah, its fun and exciting for us, and hopefully we’ll find some good people to make some great music with.

David Cook is the new American Idol!

May 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Yey!  The hard rockin bartender from montucky did it!  He beat out child prodigy David Archuletta for the win even though the judges gave it all to Archuletta the night before.  Archey just wasn’t real enough — totally a product of his father’s constant meddling in his life.  Anyway, its late, I’m tired, but congratulations David Cook!

iPhone Arm-band Cases are Too Big!

April 15th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I bought one tonite for the gym, I put it on, and my arm looked puny.  Granted, I don’t have huge arms, but strapping an iPhone to your arm just doesn’t work.  They should discontinue them.  It’s like wearing luggage as a backpack.  It doesn’t work.  Hear me Griffin??
