I went in to an AT&T store to get on the iPhone bandwagon only to be told I can’t have one. Why? Because Apple made the iPhone software such that if your phone account is a business account, meaning that its tied to a Tax ID instead of a social security number, you can’t have an iPhone. The rep told me that countless business people come in, looking to buy a large number of iPhones and are turned down because Apple doesn’t allow it. Why would Apple not allow businesses to have iPhones? This not only limits Apple’s sales, but also AT&T’s as well. Its very puzzling to me and it only leads me to one conclusion: Apple is stupid.

actually, if you go into an apple store they will sell you one with no problem. when you go to register it, it ill inform you that the iphone currently isnt available to business accounts and ask if you want to convert your account to a normal account. the iphone data plan was actually a lot cheaper than the regular dataplan and ended up saving me money even without the business discount…
anyway, so yeh. its actually a combination of apple and att being dumb. but mostly att for not telling you the full story.

well, its a pain to have to pull my line out of one account, create a new account, and go through a waiting period for it when i just want to go in and buy a phone and turn it on. every other phone they offer works that way, so i don’t think its at&t that made these rules.

i dont get what waiting period youd need? or any pulling of one account to another? you just register it to your phone line, they remove the business discount and activate the phone. the whole thing takes like 2 minutes in itunes.

i have to wait because on my business account i have 4 separate lines, so i can’t convert that account. i have to pull the line out, and create a new individual account for it and that takes a few days.
